Cake International Birmingham – 6-8th November 2015
Wow! What an amazing 3 days we have had as proud Cake International event sponsors.
The exhibition is a hub for cake enthusiasts, amateurs and professionals alike, a place where all cake lovers are welcomed with open arms. There is the opportunity to share experience, learn from demonstrators and industry experts from around the world teaching the newest trends and techniques, equip your kitchen and of course marvel at the world’s largest display of competition pieces,
In addition there is the truly spectacular ShugaRush Bakery display. A collaboration of gold award winning cake artists come together to create installations for Cake International shows, and at Birmingham the ‘Woodland mechanical bakery’ was simply stunning. A true masterpiece full of rustic charm and humour. With lots of twirling whirling and splatting, and an army of little mice workers hidden here there and everywhere, it is a spellbinding display.
Cake International Birmingham – Shesto
Here at Shesto ww were delighted to have the opportunity to meet so many of our wonderful customers new and old, had the opportunity to bring you new exciting products and bring you the brand new Top Cake brand for the very first time. A fantastic collection of the finest French ingredients including flavours, additives, Valrhona chocolate and the amazing heat and humidity resistant modelling and sugarpaste.
As if that was not enough to get you all running to find us, we also had the very great privilege of hosting some truly amazing artists at our stand offering advice and demonstration. There are still stars in my eyes having watched them work and I cannot wait to have 5 minutes to myself to practice some of the tips I’ve been given.
Our demonstrations were hugely popular with visitors to the show from home and overseas.
Our experts include:
Cassie Brown– GOLD award winning cake artist, ShugaRush Bakery team member, Cake International Judge,
author, and guest-presenter on Create & Craft TV (phew!)
Cécile Beaud– GOLD award winning French Cake Artist and sugar sculpter.
Veena Azmanov– The hugely popular Blogger and Cake Artist at Veenas Art of Cakes
Lihi Rosenberg– Cake artist and owner of Magic Colours
Margherita Ferrara– Italian cake artist at Fashflowers Cake also made a guest appearance
Cassie was on the stand inbetween her demanding judging and ShugaRush schedule, signing her new book Airbrushing on Cakes for fans and offering useful tips and advice. Cécile was demonstrating modelling with Top Cake’s new Modelling Paste completing an outstanding array of faces and figures, including a large contemporary sculpture of a bronzed man. Veena shared with fans and visitors her magnificent painting techniques using Magic Colours pro gel, and dusting and lustering of flowers. And Margherita popped by on Saturday to model and decorate a beautiful ladies head with Magic colours.
I think is it safe to say we have truly spoilt you, and I am sure you enjoyed every minute of it.
Cake International Birmingham – Competition area
The competition area was packed with world’s largest display of competition pieces. There were literally hundreds of gravity defying, sculpted masterpieces, intricate sugarflowers and piped royal icing panels and borders all on display for the cake loving public to marvel at.
There was huge variety in the categories including a Cake International showground with rows of perfect miniature cakes, steampunk inspired cakes and a virtual botanical garden in the flower classes. Prince George even had a lifesize cake sculped in his likeness.
With around 200 Gold awards being given, and many more Silver, Bronze and Merit awards it really was a world class event
We cant wait to see you all again at the next Cake International at Alexandra Palace, London, 16-17th April 2016. Until then, Happy baking!
Here are just a few moments of the show to share with you.
